Former Nigeria international Moses Kpakor has tipped Enugu Rangers and Rivers United to earn favourable results in their respective first leg, first round CAF Champions League ties, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Rangers will be guests to Egyptian giants Zamalek on Sunday, while Rivers United will host Sudanese club El-Merreikh also on Sunday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Kpakor who won the 1990 CAF Cup Winners’ Cup (now defunct) with BCC Lions, says Rangers’ game against Algeria’s JS Saoura in the preliminary round will give them an idea of how to approach the game against Zamalek.
“I think Rangers has what it takes to overcome Zamalek,” Kpakor told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“I don’t really see Zamalek as a huge threat, fine they made it to the final last year but before then, they’d been away for a very long time.
“I believe Rangers game against JS Saoura should give them an idea of what to expect against Zamalek because one thing about the North African teams is that their approach is always the same.”
The 1990 Africa Cup of Nations silver medal winner with the Super Eagles predicted that Rivers United will beat El-Merreikh by a wide margin in Port Harcourt.
“I don’t normally predict games but I see Rivers United winning 3-0 against El-Merreikh,” Kpakor added.
“In their last round game, they scored four goals so I believe they have what it takes to score as many goals as possible in the first leg.”
